BWR/BWP GRADE RESINS
(SYNTHETIC RESIN ADHESIVE FOR PLYWOOD)
BWP RESIN: POLY PF-I
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
1. Extenders: No extenders are to be added in Phenolic Resin.
2. Fillers, fortifier can be used in Phenolic Resins. Fillers should not be more than solid content (by mass) of glue for Marine plywood.
3. Hardener: no hardener should be used.
4. Use suitable formaldehyde scavengers along with resin before spreading for plywood bonding to minimise formaldehyde emission.
5. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) while handling resin.
APPLICATION
1. Keep the moisture content of the veneer between 6%-9%.
2. The surface should be in uniform thickness and free from dust particles, should be smooth and free from defects (knots, holes, worm crack, splits, etc...).
3. The resin can be spread by a mechanical spreader like a two-roll spreader. Spreading can be done in double spread in the case of phenolic resins. Care should be taken of the moisture content at the hot-pressing time.
4. Normally, 1 kg phenolic resin covers an area of 32 sqft.
5. The spreading and placing in hot press should be done within a time limit of approximately 12 hours. (spreading, absorption of resin, pressing)
6. A temperature range of 140-150°C for phenolic resin is good. And pressure should be 150-160 kg for 1.8 mm thickness and varies according to the thickness of the board.
7. Pressing time in hot press calculated as 1.5 minutes for every thickness of 1mm.
8. The pressed board after release from press should be treated with preservatives in accordance with the end use. Board should be kept in a room temperature for 6-9 days with free air rotating over. All tests will be conducted after this period.
STORAGE AND EXPIRY
Keep the resin in a cool and dry place.
Resin Expiry Date: 14 days from the date of manufacture.
The shelf life can be increased upto 90 days if stored in 5-15°C
